Belmont Hotel

The newly renovated Belmont Hotel was built in 1946, according to Tom. We met Tom when he asked to sit in a spare chair at our table. We initially thought that he might be a homeless guy who had wandered into the bar. He is actually a very young looking 85 years old and a retired Marine plus a retired real estate broker. He has lived in Dallas his entire life and he had the inside scoop on the Belmont Hotel. He said it was very popular in the late 40's until Oak Cliff was declared totally dry. He told us several amazing stories including that he's been married five times and three of his wives were named Mary. I tried to pay for his drink but the waitress said his drink was already taken care of. As the night went on, Ashley and I started to get the feeling that he was involved in the ownership of the Belmont in some way.

For your advanced age, your grasp of the English language is questionable.
